Need help with Homestead [and other] Exemptions? The Broward County Property Appraiser’s Office will be at the Tamarac Community Center…

The Broward County Property Appraiser’s (BCPA) Office is coming to the Tamarac Community Center the fourth Tuesday* of each month in 2010, from 4:30 – 6:00 pm, at the Tamarac Community Center (8601 W. Commericial Blvd.) to help residents file for Homestead Exemption!

To apply for Homestead Exemption, you must have copies of the following documents:

  • Florida Driver’s License OR Florida I.D. Card; AND
  • Broward Voter Registration OR a Declaration of Domocile; AND
  • Social Security numbers of ALL owners.

For Resident Aliens:

  • Permanent Resident “Green Card’” or proof of asylum, or INS 1-485 letter showing that application to convert to permanent resident status is complete.

In addition to Homestead Exemption, additional Tax Exemptions are also available:

  • Widow/Widower Exemption: Bring a copy of spouse’s death certificate, newspaper obituary, or memorial card.
  • Disability/Veteran’s Disability Exemption: Ask the BCPA representative about the filing requirements for these exemptions.
  • Senior’s Additional Exemption: Requires at least one owner be 65 as of January 1, 2010 and the total household adjusted gross income not exceed $25,780. (Call for information about required documentation.)

NOTE: Husband or wife may file on behalf of both.
