I know its only May, but summer is right around the corner, and with that comes beaches and pools. Kids will be going to summer camps and they will also be heading there.

Now living in South Florida, even after all the warnings, drownings still happen. Broward County are offering swimming lessons at several water parks. I did some calling around for prices.

The way they work is in 2 week sessions, Monday through Friday. Depending on the park will depend on the times, but they all charge the same, $50 for the 2 weeks, each night 30 minutes, Friday would be a make up day if one night gets rained out.

Registration begins May 5 for swimming lessons offered at three Broward County Parks –

900 N. Flamingo Road

The Learn to Swim Programs, for ages 2 through 10, will meet for eight lessons on Mondays through Thursdays, from Monday, June 11, through Thursday, August 16. Call the park of your choice to preregister today.

All I could think was, there goes our plans for the Air and Sea show. We were up at 5am this morning, my husband took the dogs out and saw all the clouds outside, minutes later, lightening appear and then came the thunder. That woke the kids up and we just looked at each other and said oh wells.

Couple hours later the storms started to pass and an update on Facebook said they were going ahead with the show. So we packed up and went. Found the perfect spot. Most people were charging anywhere from $15 to $20 dollars to park, even the Gallera Mall was charging $20. We drove around and we found a street with plenty of parking and no one charging! Yes we thought to each other!

We had to walk over the bridge since its the farthest we could go, because it was blocked off. We took the beach umbrella and the regular one, since the clouds were out in full. Took some time to find a spot to sit and watch the show, since we got there at 12pm right at the start of the show.

There were plenty booths, selling food and drinks, model air planes, army and navy apperal. Ford cars was there, if you filled out one of the slips you were entered to win one of the cars there, plus they handed out binoculars.

We were there for at least 2 hours, then the rain starting to come. We started to leave but got to see more of the show as we were walking to the car. Still was great!

If you were not able to make it out today, I hope you can make it tomorrow. If you still can’t make it out, I hope you enjoy these small clips I was able to get. Those plans are fast, and sometimes was not sure which way they were coming!

Getting you the 411FL

The Air and Sea Show is back and its this weekend! I have been looking forward to this for a very long time! It has been years since it has been here. It had something to do with a contract with the City of Fort Lauderdale. If you have lived in Fort Lauderdale you will remember how big it used to be, (McDonalds and CBS would sponsor), and now its back and I can’t help but be excited. I get to take my kids to see and experience for themselves the beauty of this show.

Fleet Week

Its also Fleet Week and the ships should be docking in soon. We got to tour several ships last year. I missed the registration for this year, but with the show will make up for it.

We have to go early and pick a good spot, the beach gets packed real fast, and I want to get some good views!

Remembering!

One year I went and spent close to 6 hours on the beach watching the show. The very next day I was red as a lobster and got Sun Posioning. I swelled up so bad I didn’t look like myself. Couldn’t even go into work the next day. This year that won’t happen, plan on buying a beach umbrella.

Have you been to an Air and Sea Show?

If you have been to one of the Air and Sea shows would love to hear about it. Better yet send me any pictures you have would love to feature it. And If you go this weekend send me those as well!.

What is a Life Vest?

In a nut shell, its a wearable defibrillator is worn by patients at risk for sudden cardiac arrest (SCA), providing protection during their changing condition and while permanent SCA risk has not been established. The LifeVest allows a patient’s physician time to assess their long-term arrhythmic risk and make appropriate plans.

Because the Doctor is still not sure what caused the dissection and in turned caused the Heart Attack, he has put this device on her to wear until he figures things out. Of course now, because she has to wear this, she is not able to drive until it is removed, because it may go off in the middle of driving.

Its a small price to pay for saving ones life! She gets to wear it for 3 months and then re-evaulated the situation and see if she still has to continue to wear it.

There is other good news but I will let her tell that part! Stay tuned!!

*****Update****

My sister has been following along with the post that I have written about her. One of the things she texted me about yesterdaty was whether or not I had a video up about the life vest that she now has to wear. My thoughts were, there is a video? Heck I will go in a put it u for sure, didn’t know that there was one.

So on my sister’s behalf here is the video explaining about how the life vest works!

As you know I posted the other day my sister had a heart attack. She has been in ICU since then. She had been on a heart pump, so the heart can rest. In the meantime, her leg where the pump was put in had been hurting her. She mentioned it to the nurses and the pushed it off at first, that the tube was in.

Well then, the pump was removed yesterday, and yet again she is telling them that she is in pain. Still they did nothing about it. Until finally today she continued to complain about the pain, they finally ordered an ultrasound and found that she has an aneurysm in the groin, as it turns out in both.

Unfortunately its a complication of the Cardiac cath, but they never did anything about it. Why my sister had to go 3 days with this pain and nothing done is besides myself….So now what they have to do is inject a medicine to clot off the aneurysm.

So stay tuned till tommorrow for an update as to how things turned out…
