What do you mean no more paper?

Let me start from the beginning for you to understand the title. I am on the PTA board for Tamarac Elementary. This is my first year on the board, I sit as VP of the PTA.
The PTA runs the fund raisers for the school each year, which helps bring in extra money for the school, or which it intends to do. It also runs some of the extra curricular activites. One of the activies that our school does is called Sunshine Math. Which pushes kids t olearn more then what they are learning in class, almost one grade level up. My daughter loves it and has been doing it since last year. She came in third for her grade level and recieved a metal for it.
Now things were moving fine this year upto recently. I noticed she hadn’t gotten any papers for a little over two weeks. So I sent a text message to the president of the PTA and asked what had happen. There were 2 answers, 1. The kids are testing for the next 2 weeks, 2. Not enough paper and may have to be stopped till next year.
What? Not enough paper, how could that be? With all the tax changes for each county has made the school change the way they supple and supplement the money. One of the things that has to go will be no more copying of any papers, we are over the limit for the year. Now remember its only Febuary and have 4 more months to go. Now what is going to happen for the next 4 months? No homework packets, no more sheets of paper with class work? How are kids suppose to learn without the proper tools?
Now it might seem like I am making a big fuss over paper. But think about it, if it starts with paper, what will be next? What will they take next? This school has over 1100 students and is projected to be close to 1200 next year. How can we use the same budget with more kids?
I plan on going to Office Depot or Staples to see if they can discount on making copies for the school. I would hate for the kids to stop doing this program. Not just my daughter but the whole school.

Meeting Team England, Tamarac Youth Soccer

As some of you may know, I have been coaching youth soccer for the City of Tamarac. The Division I coach is U6, which are players under 6 years old. So we are talking about 4, 5, and 6 year old players.
I have to say that it has been an experience like no other. I had never played, nor coached before so this was a first. We had coaches clinic to teach us about the game. Now trying to keep the attention of these children is not easy, but they have come such a long way and I have enjoyed coaching and teaching them.
Our first few games were losses and as the weeks have gone by they have gotten better. We have now lost 4 games, won 2 games and have tied 1. So we are almost even here.
So here is a picture of the Team Players, and in the next few days you will see some other pictures of the team.

Florida Asbestos Awareness, Green Alternatives & Healthy Tips
When embarking in the home buying process, there are many things to consider. Many new homes may need to be remodeled or repaired. Many homes may need inspections, repairs or renovations, especially in areas that are susceptible to natural disasters. Having the assistance of an experienced and reliable Coral Springs, FL real estate agent can make this process easy and stress free.
It is important to take note of the consequences of older building materials whose qualities not only harm the environment, but can create health concerns. Building green will have profound impacts in many facets of life. The adaption of green building and alternative energy solutions will play an important role in the transformation to a healthier and sustainable world.
Asbestos
Highly utilized more than a century ago, asbestos is a fibrous mineral that was used heavily in building and construction applications. Its flame resistant and highly durable qualities made it an ideal choice for manufacturers. Asbestos normally appeared as insulation for piping, roofing, siding and flooring in homes. Many homes or buildings built prior to 1980 may still contain asbestos materials. This fact should not make you overly worried because exposure to asbestos can be easily avoidable by taking simple precautions.
Healthy Tips
It must be noted that not all asbestos poses health risks. Asbestos that is disturbed or damaged due to age is known as “friable” asbestos. This is a concern because its toxic fibers can easily circulate and become inhaled. If any suspected asbestos is located, the best advice is to leave it alone. If you are having home renovations, performed, do not panic. Again, asbestos that is left un-disturbed will normally pose no threat.
If asbestos needs to be removed, it should be performed by licensed abatement contractors. These contractors are trained in the handling and disposal of asbestos in public facilities and homes.
The inhalation of airborne asbestos fibers can result in the development of related illnesses such as asbestosis and mesothelioma. Diagnosis by doctors has been a difficult task because symptoms are so similar to other, less serious conditions. Mesothelioma compensation has become tough to predict for victims and their families because diagnosis can take 20-50 years. For this reason, many people refer to it as a silent killer.
Florida Going GREEN
Implementing green methods of building can have positive environmental, health and economic benefits. These include:
- Conservation of natural resources
- Enhance air quality and protect ecosystems
- Energy sustainability
- Increase property value
- Improve quality of life
- Improvement of pulmonary and cardiac health
- Reduce waste
Environmental efficiency is on the rise because of technology and green sustainable methods progressing rapidly. Not only will these methods produce a healthier lifestyle, it will save you money! The Department of Energy concluded that cooling and heating counts for up to 50-70 percent of all energy used in the average home in the U.S. In today’s state, this philosophy can also save natural resources.
Environmentally sustainable insulations are made from recycled materials including cellulose, polyurethane foam and cotton fiber. Cotton fiber is made from recycled batted material and treated to be fireproof. A water based spray polyurethane foam, lcynene features no toxic components. The implementation of these eco-friendly products can reduce annual energy costs in the household by 25 percent annually.
Coaching Tamarac Youth Soccer

My children are going to be playing there second year in Soccer. Last year they played on Team Mexico. Registration began in September for the 2009-2010 season. The President of the Soccer was our team coach for my kids. So when we went to get the kiddos signed up he asked, Can you coach this year? Me coach, are you nuts? I have no training in soccer. Now I am a big sports person. I love all types of sports. He tells me that they will be giving training for the coaches.
My response was, what the heck, why not, I am going to be there anyways, sure I will do it. Big smile I get from Coach Joe. Filled out my papers, got them notarized and got my coaching badge. I have done some training drills they had for the coaches.
My team is Team England and I have 8 team members. Our first game is on December 12 at 12 O’clock. I am looking forward to this game and at the same time very nervous.
So look for post on Sundays since our game days are on Saturdays. Whether we win or lose, you will see pictures and totals. This is going to be a fun and exciting season. Come and follow along!
Go Team England!!

Questions on Short Sales…..
September 24, 2009 by admin

![]()
I often run into people who ask me about short sales. So I have listed here a couple of them. This was a converstation back and forth with a potential Short Sale Seller who had some questions.
She is out of the city, up in Tampa and has a home here in Sunrise. So this is how it went.
Question: If you can give me some direction on what needs to take place for a short sale to be approved, I would appreciate it. Do I have to be late on the payments before they will short sale it or can I put it on the market now while it is still current?
Answer: First question is, Do you own another property? We can list it now, but with a short sale you have to give your financial information to the bank. That means they will need a copy of your bank statements and your paystubs.
We need to write up a hardship letter, which means that you have to explain why you can no longer pay your mortgage. Basically you will explain you were relocated to another part of the state and you can no longer afford the home.
The whole process can take time. The one I just closed on was listed early in the year, I would say March, got a contract 2 weeks before the bank was going to foreclose on it in June.
We just closed on it 3 months later. So this will take patience. You will need to sign an Auth form which gives me the right to speak on your behalf with the bank. I will let them know that you have listed the house for sale as a short sale and that we are working to get it sold.
Once an offer comes in I send it with all the buyers info and at the same time your finances with the listing contract, bank statements, pay stubs and last 2 W2’s and the hardship letter.
I know that it seems like a lot of information, but once you sign the Auth form I take it from there. You dont have to give me that stuff now, but once the offer comes you need to be able to give it to me within a day or so. This way the faster you get it to me the faster I can send it to the bank.
If this helps you in any way or if you have any other questions let me know.
Question: I am in the process of trying to purchase a house here now. Will that help or hurt?
Answer: You should be able to purchase now, but you might get hit with a 1099 later on for the difference in the amount in the short sale.
Say you owe $250 and we sell it for $150, you may get hit with a 1099 for the 100,000 difference that we were short. Now I am not sure if you will get it or not. Mainly the inverstors have been getting the 1099’s, but I would suggest you check with a Tax Attorney so know for sure.

That 18% surcharge is out of here BABY!!
Gone baby gone! I don’t know about you, but I look at my water bill sometimes and wonder how much water we use to be so high!
Then I look and realize its because of the 18% surcharge. It started a couple years ago because of the water droubt we were in. Those who use water more were of course charged more..
I have a family of 5. Do you know what it means with baths, bathrooms, dishes and more? Man I hated it!
Well as of October 1 that surcharge will be gone!!!! You may not see it till your November bill, but it will be out of here!!! I hope I see a big change in my bill come November. I am sure I will…..
Let me know what you think..

We are keeping our SRO’s!
For those of you who have children in school may know what an SRO is. If not it stands for Safety Resource Officer.
They have been in our school systems for a very long time. Heck, when I was in high school we had one. Now that was back in the early 90’s. It made things safer in our schools.
For the Elementary schools, our children are young and are unfamiliar with the unsafe world we live in sometimes. At Tamarac Elementary we have Officer French 3 days a week. We share him with Challenger Elementary.
Broward County as you may know has had some major budget cut backs. Including the BSO (Broward Sheriff Officers). What does that mean, we lose our SRO’s because of that. Many of us parents have been extremely upset. The safety of our kids are at stake! As of October 1, the new fiscal buget takes place and most of the schools will not have them.
The City of Tamarac has decided to keep our SRO’s! They understand what it means to have the officer there during school ours! We found this out last night at our PTA meeting at the school.
Can I tell you how many parents were so happy to hear this? That means drop off and pick ups he will be there. So for those of you doing some illegal turns, watch out, they might start handing out tickets.
Now I feel more comfortable knowing that Officer French will still be there!!! Are you losing your officer? Well consider moving to Tamarac, we still have ours…
Jeannette
